Church and School Visitor Information

Message from Our Congregation
Whether you are on vacation, new to the community, or seeking a place of worship or a Christian education for your child, we welcome you to Trinity Lutheran Church and School. We invite you to click around our web site and see how Trinity Lutheran Church and School, Kissimmee, FL is a special place to discover Christ and His followers.

Christian Worship Services at Trinity

Hymnals: We use two hymnals, the Lutheran Book of Worship (LBW) and With One Voice (WOV). The LBW was completed in 1977 as a joint project between the American Lutheran Church, The Lutheran Church in America, The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Canada, and The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. The WOV was a project of the Augsburg Fortress Publishing House to supplement the LBW and was completed in 1995. The LBW has a green cover and WOV has a blue one.

Style of Worship: Our worship is liturgical in style, which means that the congregation participates in worship rather than just being spectators. Most hymns we sing will be familiar to the majority of Lutherans and people from other traditions. The choir and soloists sing pieces from a variety of styles, from contemporary Christian rock to gospel to classical. Our Saturday evening service tends to be more casual.

Holy Communion: As Lutherans we believe that Christ is truly present with us in, with, and under the bread and wine of Communion. In other words, we trust the promise that Jesus made when he instituted the Lord's Supper that "This is my body" and "This is my blood" without trying to explain the nature of just how that happens. We celebrate Holy Communion on the first and third weekends of each month on Saturday Evening and Sunday at 8:30 a.m., and on the second and fourth Sunday at 11:00 a.m., as well as on Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, and Easter Sunday.

Holy Baptism: We believe that in baptism we are made adopted children of the Father and heirs of His kingdom, that in baptism we are crucified, buried and raised with God the Son, and that in baptism we are given the gift of God the Holy Spirit to comfort and guide us through our earthly ministry. Holy Baptism does not merely symbolize these events in our spiritual lives, but actually accomplishes them through the power of God's promises that these truly occur in baptism. Those who desire baptism for themselves or a family member should contact our Pastor at 407-847-4204 to arrange for pre-baptismal consultation and counseling. We then baptize the candidate after the consultation is complete at the next available worship service.

Music Presented During Church Services

Music enlivens our worship. Talented musicians, our Sanctuary choir, and other choirs including the angel song choir (Sunday School), and Alleluia Ringers (tone chimes) bless us with their gifts.

The Sanctuary Choir meets on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. There are always openings for new members! The choir sings what is called "blended worship music" which basically means--a little of everything. The choir director tries to make it as varied as possible.

The Alleluia Ringers meet in the church in between services on Sundays at 10:00 a.m. You do NOT need to read music to be in this group. Some knowledge of rhythm is helpful. This group has played at Disney resorts at Christmastime and will likely be asked again this year. We try to play once a month at both services.

To join a choir or music group, contact the church office.

Christian Education

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6

Sunday School for age 3 through adult meets every Sunday during the school year at 9:45 a.m. Age 3 through 2nd grades meet in the Fellowship Hall. They begin their hour with a short service consisting of songs, offering, and prayers. Each age group and grade level then goes together to their classrooms. Parents pick up their children from the classroom at 10:45 a.m. 3rd Grade through High School, and adults meet in their classrooms.

Bible Study Groups: Each Wednesday evening, we meet for small group Bible study during the school year.

Prayer Breakfast: Every Thursday morning a Prayer Breakfast group meets to discuss the Gospel for the coming Sunday and share prayer concerns. This group meets at Good Samaritan Village.

Vacation Bible School: Every summer a Vacation Bible School is offered once a week on Sunday mornings in June.

Confirmation: Throughout the year, culminating at Reformation, our eighth and ninth grade youth participate in Confirmation classes, led by our pastor.

First Communion: For third graders, First Communion classes are held at least once per year.

Community Service

Give Kids the World: Trinity youth, as well as others in our congregation find a rewarding experience serving each month at Give Kids the World.

Project 5000: For those in need, we provide a family of four with a two-day supply of basic food. Visit the Project 5000 page for details on how to donate.

Fellowship

Throughout the year, there are events planned that give our congregation family a chance to get together and socialize. Some of these events are annual, and everyone looks forward to them each year.

Sports Fellowship: Trinity has an active sports fellowship in the form of Softball teams. The Softball teams have players at a variety of skill levels. These teams practice together, and participate in a league.
